Looking for a place to take your kiddos on a rainy day or a really great toddler story time? What if I told you that you could have both! The children’s department at the Central Library in Glendale has some incredible offerings.

What works:
- Along with a great book section they also have different toys, puzzles and materials out for children to play with.
- There is a restroom in the children’s section so you don’t have to leave the area to change a diaper.
- The staff has always been so helpful and the displays and recommendations are always rotating.

What could use improvement:
The story times are so wonderful (especially the Wednesday morning toddler one) that they can get very full. You have to get there a bit early to be guaranteed a seat or you may end up standing outside of the story auditorium.

What I love:
They have a program to sign your young children up for called, “1000 books before kindergarten.” They give you reading logs and for each 100 books you read, your children get a prize. Not only that on the logs they have recommendations for ways to support literacy in your young child.
