Looking for a Day of the Dead celebration in North East Los Angeles? Although the big celebration usually happens at the Hollywood Forever cemetery, that’s more focused on adults and will cost you 25 dollars a ticket. Fortunately, there are quite a few more popping up each year. These are all in NELA or a short drive away and family friendly. Oh and did I mention these all have free entry? You’re welcome, here they are:

Friday October 25th – Saturday October 26th: Old Pasadena Day of the Dead
Old Town Pasadena, Pasadena Fri. 6:00-9:00pm, Sat. 1:00pm-7:00pm
Friday there will be salsa dancing in the alley while Saturday will feature community altars, calavera face painting, mariachi music and print making provided by the Armory.

Saturday, October 26th: Harvest Festival and Dia de los Muertos
Elysian Park Arts Magnet, Elysian Park 11:00am-3:00pm
There will be crafts, games, decorations and a haunted house. Not to mention delicious food provided by their community.

Saturday, October 26th: Halloween Fiesta & Day of the Dead
Highland Park Recreation Center, Highland Park 11:00am-3:00pm
There will be a costume contest, carnival games, face painting and a haunted maze. This is a combination Halloween and Day of the Dead celebration.

Sunday, October 27th: Dia De Los Muertos
Forest Lawn Cemetery, Glendale 12:00pm-4:00pm
This celebration will include a showing of the movie Coco starting at 1:00pm. There is free parking and free admission.
