I’ve talked to a few people about Kidspace and it seems people are pretty torn on how they feel about it. It usually has to do with how busy it is when people show up. So I’m going to tell you something I wish I knew before I first visited, there is field trip tracker on the website. That’s right, if you go to their site you can figure out how many classes are going to be there so if you’re planning a time to bring your kiddo and want to avoid the crowd, make sure to check the tracker. Now that I’ve given you the most important information here are the rest of my thoughts.

Kidspace is awesome for my children who are 3 and (almost) 1.5. The three year old loves climbing up the ant hill in the indoor part and the youngest enjoys the stage and riding in the fake jeep/dino bone digging area. This area alone would keep them busy for a while, but if we want to make a day of it we go to the activities in the front.

Now for the thing that makes Kidspace truly magical, the back part, up the hill. If you want to avoid getting messy you probably want to avoid this area. You can visit this museum and never notice it, but once you take your kids once, they will always want to go and I don’t blame them. There is a climbing structure that is inspired by a nest, a mud kitchen, a sand and water area, oh and a small river they can wade through. Yup, you read that correctly. My 1.5 year old spent the whole morning climbing up and down those rocks and loving his life. My advice to you is bring clothes you can get wet for you and your kid.

Since Kidspace offers memberships for three months, six months or one year, if you go and you like it you can apply your ticket to a membership and see if you use it.

Also, if you want to go on a day that there are a lot of field trips but feel bummed about the crowd just head to the back part near the water. The classrooms try and avoid the messiness of that area so even on busy days it’s less busy than the front parts. Since we got our membership, I’ve taken my kiddos just for that last hour (4:00pm-5:00pm) and even that small amount of time has been delightful. Also helpful when you come that late is that they shutdown the back part so your kiddos may want to jump in the water but it’s closed so you get to enjoy the front non-messy area.
