If you haven’t explored the area of Montrose that makes you feel as if you were magically transported back to a 1950’s small town, a Sunday morning may be a good time to do it.

The Montrose Harvest market (aka farmer’s market) helps support farmers and local businesses and is family friendly. Not only can you shop for your weekly produce, plants, farm fresh eggs and freshly baked breads, but if you go to the other side of the market you get to explore the handiwork of some local craftspeople.

They also have a children’s area with giant connect four, blocks, face painting, a petting zoo and pony rides (the giant connect four and blocks are free while the others things are available for a small fee.)

In the middle of the market there is a band or singer each week and on more than one occasion they sing Disney songs. My personal favorite is the ukulele band.

If you want to make an afternoon of it, have lunch while you’re there. Not only are there food stands and tables, there are concrete benches all around the sidewalk. If it’s too hot and you’re looking for air conditioning, well you’re in luck because a few of the local businesses offer discounts during market hours.

The only down side is that on a hot day, there is not a lot of shade but with Fall around the corner, that’s not going to be as much of an issue, so keep this weekend activity in mind.

Montrose Harvest Market happens every Sunday, rain or shine, from 9:00am – 2:00pm.
